Accepted documents
Bitpanda accepts standard government-issued documents. Photos must be clear, unedited and show all four corners of the document.
| Document type | Accepted formats | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Photo ID | Passport, national ID, driver's licence | Not expired; all text readable |
| Proof of address | Utility bill, bank statement, official letter | Dated within last 3 months; name matches ID |
| Selfie | Live photo via in-app camera | Good lighting; face clearly visible |
Verification vs 2FA
KYC verification confirms who you are — it is a one-time (or periodic) compliance check. Two-factor authentication confirms it is you signing in each time. Both are required for a fully protected Bitpanda account. See Security for 2FA setup.
Speed up approval
Verification failed or pending?
Check your account dashboard for the rejection reason. Common fixes: re-upload with better photo quality, use a different accepted document type, or ensure your proof of address is recent enough. If verification stays pending beyond 48 hours, contact Bitpanda support.
